Background

The Fortune 500 diversified financial services group had a strategic desire to move into cloud services for greater agility and cost savings. The client needed to accomplish this move to the cloud while adhering to core requirements stemming from architecture, legal, security, compliance and governance. The client’s Chief Technology and Digital Office engaged SingleStone to provide expertise in evaluating 26 critical cloud foundational capabilities, particularly in terms of Amazon Web Services (AWS) as their primary cloud provider.

Response

Over a 10-week period, SingleStone worked with the client’s key cloud stakeholders to: ​

  • Understand the cloud strategy, desired future state and progress to date ​
  • Identify gaps and omissions in the foundational capabilities and offer recommendations for closing gaps ​
  • Author detailed cloud architecture guidance and recommendations on 26 foundational capabilities, of which half were security related ​
  • Educate the client’s architects on cloud design and operations including integration with existing capabilities

Result

Comprehensive guidance on 26 foundational capabilities enabling the client to securely utilize the public cloud. A roadmap advising the client to enact on capabilities in the near term that would yield immediate benefit was also a supplemented deliverable of this engagement.
